thought i renew this topic, somewhat slightly changing the context, taking "drug" in the more general and less reward/pleasure sense. here is my breakfast for champions: pot + coffee + rhodiola rosea + lecithin gives me the perfect boost for the day - alert and energetic, yet relaxed and easy-going. rhodiola rosea is a little miracle worth looking into. a much better alternative to both ginseng and ginkgo. i am also planing to throw in some low-dose kratom these days, see how that works out. from all the info i've gathered, sounds really promising, especially to someone like me, who has relied on street heroin to keep his neurocrine systems functional the past 6 years. also, keeping in mind hippocrates' "you are what you eat", i have lately switched to a vegetable-only diet. beet, maize and carrots. and a bowl of musli mixed with nuts in the morning, to supplement the required protein. i feel i could go on like this for the rest of my life. being healthy feels great. ![]() |

well, i include diet too because what you eat to a large extent determines the way you feel/think/etc. e.g. vegetarianism = low libido excessive meat consumption = tendency for bestial sexual practices too much potatoes predispose you to alcoholism rice gives you an inclination towards opiates (although i cannot confirm this, i just take nietzsche's word for it) europeans don't have much of an intuition about those things - we usually need the sledgehammer hitting our receptors to get a feeling of our body's psycho-somatic totality. although maintaining a healthy diet all my life (have been a veggie for as long as i can remember), i am not a very good example of a healthy balanced life-style. being 22, i am already a wreck. most people give me ~30. apart from junk, i have heavily abused alcohol to the point of, err..lightly damaging my liver. i have been smoking ~2 packs/day for the past 8 years. and so on. but what i actually had in mind when starting this thread is what goes by the name "adaptogens" and "nootropics". herbs and substances that subtly modulate your mood, performance and vitality. P.S. yes, i read and speak a little danish (working on improving and perfecting it during my stay here), but its just slightly above the basic. its not a big deal, but if you feel like practicing your english, feel free. ![]() |

If you've been on heroin, kratom probably won't do much for you. It will, however, get you addicted so daily use is a pretty bad idea. |

jim fear skrev: If you've been on heroin, kratom probably won't do much for you. P.S. does your nickname have anything to do with "the dillinger escape plan"? |

a little excerpt from the wiki article on r.rosea. Citat: Rhodiola rosea may be effective for improving mood and alleviating depression. Pilot studies on human subjects[2][3][4] showed that it improves physical and mental performance, reduces fatigue, and minimizes high-altitude sickness.
Rhodiola rosea's effects potentially are related to optimizing serotonin and dopamine levels due to monoamine oxidase inhibition and its influence on opioid peptides such as beta-endorphins,[citation needed] although these specific neurochemical mechanisms have not been clearly documented with scientific studies. Rhodiola is included among a class of plant derivatives called adaptogens which differ from chemical stimulants, such as nicotine, and do not have the same physiological effects. In Russia and Scandinavia, Rhodiola rosea, also known as golden root, has been used for centuries to cope with the cold Siberian climate and stressful life. |
