Hi all,
I'm a long time indoor grower who's recently started growing poppies for fun and beauty. I germinate my poppies in regular seed starter under regular flourescents and it seems to work fine. Upon germination, I place the plants into 5 gallon buckets
and put them in my grow room. The grow room consists of one 1000 W MH lamp and a 400 W HPS lamp; both are vertical and cooled with and intense industrial fan. The plants grow pretty darn fast under these lights.
The medium I've been using is regular potting soil mixed with some sand and perlite or vermiculite (can't remember which). I also put some small rocks in the bottom of my buckets.
My questions are 1) how much "daylight" should I give them to stimulate flowering? I've had the lights at 24 hours now for growth, but the growth seems to have stopped or slowed. Would 12 on 12 off be better?
2) Do these plants have a "set" life period? For instance, if I've been growing these plants for 4 months and they have not flowered, can they ever flower?
Please help if you have any experience in indoor cultivation, I'd appreciate any help on this subject as well as any info on hydroponics and poppies.
Thanks
